We’ve all been frustrated by the lack of recognition for Rose and her outstanding performances in iZombie week in and out – but she’s starting to receive more these days! During season 2, we managed to get the hashtag #RoseForAnEmmy pretty active on twitter, and it was clear a lot of people agree with us. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that she’ll receive her much deserved Emmy nomination this year as well, but lets get the hashtag active again, as Rose deserves it for her incredible work on the show! And make sure you vote, vote, vote. Even if she won’t make it this year, it could definitely help her for the next one.

Sean Stangland from Daily Herald has made an article on some actors and actresses he feels the Emmy voters should really consider, and Rose made his list. You can view the full article at their website here, and I’ve posted the parts including Rose below!

The long buildup to Sept. 17’s Emmy awards began this week as online voting opened to members of the Television Academy. Between now and June 26, 22,000 industry professionals will decide the nominees in more than 100 categories, and you can see every entity submitted for nomination this year at emmys.com/ballots/2017.

The PDF file listing all eligible actors is 438 pages long, and if you look at them all — and I did — you learn some interesting things, like the fact that “Bates Motel” co-star Vera Farmiga will compete in the supporting actress category this year. Here are some long, long, long shots on the submission document whom I’d love to see get nominated on July 13:

— Rose McIver, “iZombie” (The CW): As I said in this column a few weeks ago, this season has been a tour de force for McIver as Olivia Moore, an undead medical examiner-turned-detective who takes on the personality traits of the people whose brains she consumes. In May 30’s “Twenty Sided, Die,” Liv becomes the most animated, committed Dungeon Master in the history of “Dungeons & Dragons,” to hilarious effect. McIver competes in the drama category, but hers is one of the funniest performances on TV. (Source)

Amazing news! Thanks to iZombie nation, we have been told iZombie has been nominated for Two Leo Awards. The Leo Awards are a project of the Motion Picture Arts & Sciences Foundation of British Columbia, and the award ceremony has been honoring and celebrating the excellence in British Columbia film & television since 1999. They recently announced via their website (leoawards.com) that the critically acclaimed CW show has been nominated for the following two categories:
Best Make-Up in a Dramatic Series
Amber Trudeau, Malin Sjostrom, Corey Roberts, Rebekah Bak
iZombie – Method Head

Best Cinematography in a Dramatic Series
Michael Wale
iZombie – Zombie Bro

Both nominations are truly well deserved! Amber Trudeau has also done Rose’s make up for some appearances and interviews lately, and Rose is full of praise for her. Big congratulations to the amazing iZombie crew, who deserve this so much! Hopefully they’ll take home the awards – we will definitely let you know.

The Celebration and Gala awards ceremonies are held May 28, June 5 and June 5 at The Hyatt Regency Vancouver. From what we understand, both of the categories iZombie is nominated for will be announced and celebrated on May 28!

An abundance of quality series produced an inevitable increase in good roles for actors, and a list of breakout performances as varied in terms of platform – and geography – as it was style and tone.

Settling on criteria wasn’t easy, but the scope went beyond unknowns and supporting characters to actors who stepped up in class, through a leading part that showcased them in a way they haven’t been before, or at least in a while. (Apologies, for example, to those who think Krysten Ritter already “broke out” in “Don’t Trust the B—- in Apt. 23.”)

The selections wound up representing a dozen networks or streaming services and a number of different countries. As for how the choices were made, there was unanimity on some (Rami Malek, come on down) and one fervent champion for others. Then again, since when do two critics ever agree entirely on anything?

So with that disclaimer, here are the breakout players of 2015, from Al Massri to Zissis.

Rose McIver (“iZombie”): McIver not only had to illuminate the strange journey of her character – who inadvertently became a zombie and then kept it secret from most of her family and friends — but also had to become a different person every week (the brains she eats seep into her personality). McIver made it all look easy, even as she reeled off the kind of snappy, smart-aleck one-liners loved by executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright.
